Mauricio Bellido

Born and raised in an environment of music and guitars, I always wanted to follow in the footsteps of my father, Maestro Manuel Bellido. When I was very young I started playing the guitar with Francisco Javier Moreno Rebollo, and years later I received flamenco guitar classes with José María Ortiz and Jorge Gómez, as well as lessons from the current director of the Granada Guitar Festival and President of the European Guitar Foundation, Vicente Coves Merino. At eighteen I did my first instrument repairs and had my first contact with shellac varnishing. Some time later, combining it with my university and language studies, I completed my training in varnishing techniques in Eduardo Durán Ferrer's workshop, and finished my first guitar with my father in 2007. Since then I have built classical and flamenco guitars in the Bellido workshop, with the help and guidance of my teachers, my father Manuel and my brother Jesús.

I have always been fond of photography and video shooting. My interest in these hobbies and in high-level guitar lutherie work led me in 2021 to create Superb Guitars, a space in which, using these formats, I can show aficionados and professionals the best Spanish guitars, not only bringing them closer to the guitar makers who created them but also offering insight into the instrument in general.
